Mortgages Saw Mill Property in Charlton County Georgia - Ben Upton & Adaran Upton This land and the railway depot located there was named the town of Uptonville. It can still be found on the Georgia map but there is nothing there but land and the train track. The lumbering business dried up in the early 1900's. These documents have been transcribed from handwritten documents recorded in book C pages 256-265 in the Charlton County Courthouse. There are blanks and ? marks where the words are not legible or did not copy well. I will return to the court house and refer to the original documents as soon as possible. I have inserted notations (C257, etc.) within the text to indicate on which page the text can be found.
