Karim Sarraf and Family
Karim Sarraf
circa 1925
The
words: Apolloni Constantinople" are embossed on photo. Philip's son Selim
Philip Sarraf states: "When you see Constantinople embossed on the corner
of any photo, that definitely means that the photo was taken at Constantinople
(Istanbul), which was the capital of the Ottoman empire where my father was working
before he came and established himself in Aleppo and got married." |
This
photo was identified as Antoine Abdulkerim Sarraf and Julie Mazloum.
If this is correct, then he is the son who worked at the train station
and
saved the
family from genocide by the Turks.
Karim's
wife Julie Mazloum - Dated 31 March 1925
George Saraf's letter to the Procurement Generale appointed
Jean Mazloum his legal representative 23 August 1925.

Julie
Mazloum Sarraf and daughter Georgette circa 1945
Georges
Sarraf circa 1955. According to Uncle Philip Saraf, George and his wife
Rosie
visited Savannah many years ago. He has a son named Fadi Sarraf.
Georges

Named
for their Uncle George Abdulkerim Sarraf
This
photo was sent to me by Fadi Sarraf in January 2010.
This
is what he wrote: "I'm attaching a photo where you can
see my side of the family. In the back row from left to right:
Rosette Chalhoub Sarraf (my mother), George Sarraf (my dad),
Jaoudat Mazloum (an uncle), Houda Chalhoub (my maternal grandmother),
Georgette Sarraf (my dad's sister). In the front row from left
to right: me, Myriam Sarraf (Georgette's daughter), Karim Antoine
Sarraf (my brother) and Juliana Sarraf (my sister). It was taken
on the day of my brother's first communion, probably in 1975."
I think he means Right to Left as the man second from the right
in the back is clearly George Sarraf, Grandpa Saraf's nephew.
