James
Milton Ivey
James Milton
Ivey, son of Milton Ivey and Elizabeth Jane Miranda Upton Ivey
Travers, worked many jobs in Savannah, especially in the saloons
of Neil Gildea (his brother in law) and Owen Travers (his step
father). In addition, the city directories indicate he was also
a barber at 38 Bull Street. Proof of this was found in an advertisement
in the program for the festivities surrounding the laying of the
cornerstone for the new Savannah City Hall on August 11, 1904.
The shop was apparently was on the outside of the Screven House
Hotel, which Owen Travers managed for a time back in 1896.
