Beall Tombstones

"Mollie, Virginia, and their children are buried in the cemetery at Bethlehem Baptist Church which is near where the family lived. As one enters the gate to the cemetery, the Beall's plot is directly to the back under a huge oak tree. In the center is a four-sided marble obelisk about four feet high. On the front side is the name "Beall." On the right side is the name Mollie Upton and under her name, her children are listed with the dates of each one's birth and death. Then on the right side all of these are buried in a row side by side."      From Bio by Marion Pennington Boyles
The last two listed on the tombstone were born to Blanche V. Upton and were not the children of Mollie. Penny Starling via email dated 31 Aug. 2005

Notes: Found family in 1900 Census in Smith, Laurens County, Georgia. W.L. born Sept 1865; Molly born July 1872; William born Dec. 1891; Benj. born June 1892; daughter born April 1895, and Annie Lee born Nov. 1897. Blanche is not yet in the household. There should have been an Estell according to the tombstone above, who would have been 8 in 1900. According to the tombstone Lula was born and died in 1900. I have not found a Mortality schedule for the 1900 census to see if she is listed.

"The name of the cemetery is Bethelem Baptist located six miles from Dublin. Inside the sanctuary there are about six different pictures of the different churches built over time. It is still avery active church. Once when we visited the cemetery the Beall tombstone was partially off its base. I left a note for the pastor and asked if he could hire someone to fix it. I remember leaving a check made out to the church for $25.00 and told the pastor if that was not enough I would pay more. He wrote and told me who fixed it and that the money was enough. The last time we took Mother back just a few months before she died and the stone was repaired. I'm so glad we did it because it would have probably fallen and just never replaced."
