NOTE: Also on the list with Adel are Hanney Gannim, Gannim Abraham, Zihra Abraham, and two persons who could have the last name Yousef or Gannem. Their destination is also Karam Gannam's address but they identify Abdullah Gannim as their uncle. Abdulla Ganem is residing in Karam Gannam's household at the time of 1910 U.S. census.
Aunt Phyllis identified Adel for us. "I found it difficult to read the passenger list, but I did find Adel Assaf. I wonder if this is the Adel who married Joseph Solomon in Manchester, NH. She was Grandpa's niece. They had a daughter, Ruth Solomon, who was a beautiful girl. I met her when I was 15 years old when grandpa took me to Manchester after Grandma Gannam had died. Ruth died very young of a parasitic disease from pigeon droppings." Aunt Phyllis
The Detainee List shows that Hanny Abraham, her brother Gannim, sister Zihra, and cousin Adel, along with Hanna (John) Yousef (Joseph) Ganem and his sister Nimry were detained due to "LPC - Likely Public Charge." The Immigration Inspector, if he felt that the arriving passenger had either a mental or physical condition which would likely prevent the immigrant from finding employment in the U.S. would list the detained passenger as such. Hanny, her brother, sister and Adel were admitted 17 May 1909. Hanna and his sister were finally admitted on 20 May 1909.

*The Caroline was owned by the FRENCH LINE which serviced Beruit by way of Cherbourg or Le Harve, France.
